Since the signature orange bikes appeared on the scene when Great Park Neighborhoods opened in 2013, the bicycles have become the envy of Irvine. The cruisers are custom-designed by Irvine-based Felt Bicycles, internationally known for its diverse fleet of top-quality bikes that can be seen in racing events around the world. For Beacon Park, the Felt team went back to the drawing board to create a redesigned unisex version of the orange cruiser, engineered to suite a wider range of riders.
"We take pride in our design, from the grip of the handlebars to the curve of the saddle. The average person might not notice those details, but you can feel the quality when you ride it." - Alan Foster, Felt Bicycles and manager of the orange bike project.
Peter Gerrard of Irvine Bicycles, the local, independent bike shop that receives, assembles and distributes the cruisers, agrees.
"This next model is even more user-friendly, even more fun to ride. Irvine is one of the best places in the world to ride a bike."
